I am not a particularly sentimental person. I do cry at movies and books but in real life I am often called stuff like “ice maiden”, “unromantic”, “too practical”, “unfun” and “scary”. But we all have our weak spot, mine is my kid. As she grows older I get more sentimental about her than before.

She turns another teen year tomorrow. My heart feels like jelly and I want to freeze this moment in time for eternity!

I know how you feel, but in time, you’ll discover your daughter as a (hopefully delightful) adult and as a friend. (Also, lots of exasperated or bemused “Oh, Mom!”s whenever you offer advice. That doesn’t change.)

I cried at every new step my children took, from their first day of preschool to their college graduation ceremonies. That doesn’t change, ever, and if you get grandchildren, your emotions will transfer to a new generation of kids. 🙂

a quick google tells me your daughter’s bday has passed (belated happy to her!!) and you’re already into 2019. We have 12 hrs to go. Does the future hold any good surprises for us?
